Description
Keep your home spick-and-span with the help of our Osoji Hand Broom and Dust Pan. These pretty yet practical cleaning tools come to us from Japan’s Wakayama Prefecture, where they were handcrafted by a small family-owned company that has been in operation since the 1880s. The Hand Broom is made up of hemp palm bristles that were harvested from native windmill palms, which have been tightly bound together and attached to a simple bamboo handle using copper wire. Not only are these stiff yet flexible bristles great for sweeping up hard-to-reach spots, they also contain traces of their own natural oils, allowing them to better trap dust and debris while also adding a hint of extra polish to wood surfaces. And then there’s the Dustpan. If it looks remarkably slim and lightweight, that’s because it’s completely crafted from washi paper — a thin yet sturdy type of paper made from the inner bark of native mulberry trees that has been used in traditional Japanese crafts since the 8th century. Once molded into shape, it’s coated with kaki-shibu — a type of lacquer made from fermented unripe persimmons — making it durable, waterproof and mold-resistant while also adding a rich hue. Besides all that, its unique shape and smooth finish are also designed to help dust and debris slide off effortlessly when you’re done cleaning. Both beautiful yet functional pieces of traditional Japanese craftsmanship that were truly made to last, our Osoji Hand Broom & Dustpan are sure to be staples in your home cleaning arsenal for years to come.
