Pairing a 19th century pottery design with antique details, the Swallow Plate is sure to bring vintage charm to any place setting. This delicate dish comes to us from renowned ceramicist Astier de Villatte’s historic Paris workshop, housed in what was once the atelier of Napoleon’s own silversmith. There, this one-of-a-kind piece was hand molded from black terracotta clay following old school methods passed down for generations. Along with the brand’s signature milky white glaze, it’s finished with a stylized vintage drawing of a swallow in flight, taken from celebrated designer John Derian’s expansive collection of antique images. A wonderfully unique addition to any serveware collection, we especially love it mixed in with other pieces from our Astier de Villatte ceramics collection. It also makes itself useful outside of the dining room, either as a sweet catch-all or as a worthy addition to a growing gallery wall.
